Okay, you guys ought to go to bo.lt, make fake CNN/BBC/etc pages, as well as design a couple of sites that look legit.

i'll just copypasta what i posted in the thread.

"i'm a film editor and i can also do some visual fx and sound design. i would love to help with some video clips. if you guys could send me links to existing clips for the style i could try and emulate the look and gather high quality footage from the web and edit some clips. i would like to take direction from the graphic designers as to what the style should look like and also incorporate the graphics into the video/news clips.

The eruption at Mount St Helen in 1980 would be a good base for the growth and movement of the ash cloud would look.

good idea. i'll start looking for some good footage that would pass as newsworthy. i'll put some temp titles and graphic overlays to designate it as yellowstone etc. if it's alright with you guys i'll have some rough cuts to show tomorrow afternoon.
one last thing, as an editor i am used to taking direction from the director as to how he visualizes his film. so feel free to dictate the style and tempo. as of right now i'll just assume we are going for some local news type of video reporting and maybe some eyewitness reports style news gathering.

Just an FYI, the thread 404'd, so unless another is made we're all who know. Also, at the end of the thread someone showed a reddit post they made about it, so that may or may not take off, but if it does they should know where to come to organize I suppose.

Can we get a chatroom somewhere to communicate easier? We need faster communication or this will die.

... and maybe some leadership.

“I have never seen anything like this” stated 24-year Yellowstone Park Ranger, Timothy Strolls, when asked to describe the scene today at Yellowstone Caldera, sometimes referred to as the Yellowstone Super Volcano. This once thought dormant volcano came alive today and begun slowly spewing smoke breaking up a once tranquil site of one of America’s first national parks home to many different species of plants and animals. Yellowstone was initially made famous due to its unique geology caused by its location on the North American plate, which for millions of years has slowly moved across a mantle hotspot via plate tectonics. The Yellowstone Caldera is a volcanic system, the largest in North America, which has formed as a result of this hot spot and subsequent large volcanic eruptions.
Geologists nationwide are unsure of what to say of the recent developing events and remain puzzled while local authorities are unsure of the range of devastation this imposing eruption may pose. Preliminary evacuations have begun of nearby towns such as Madison, Norris, and Canyon Village. However some geologists have already been reporting that the results of this eruption could have cataclysmic effects resulting in a much bigger blast radius than thought by authorities. They also report that after the dust settles this may affect farming and wildlife in the area for quite some time due to the great amount of dust in the air.

Residents of the small town of Bozeman, WY on the outskirts of Yellowstone National Park have reported being awoken by ground tremors last night, with local authorities confirming reports of increased seismic activity in the Yellowstone region.

These reports coincide with reports of mass exodus of birds and other wildlife from the area, though experts deny any connection.

C.E Sanderson, head of the Yellowstone USGS observatory has called for calm over this recent activity, assuring that a significant event was "very unlikely".

"While we are overdue for another Yellowstone eruption, we might not get it for another 10,000 years, it could be tomorrow, it could be in 2400, it's not worth getting worried about".

It's a quiet day in Yellowstone, no birds are singing and the wind itself has stopped blowing, it seems as if nature is preparing for what volcanologists are calling a freak event where a dormant volcano such as the one in Yellowstone recieve a renewed flow of lava as a result of the various earthquakes and the resulting shifts in the tectonic plates.

As a result of this act of god, the magma bed underneath the Volcano is Yellowstone is now full of molten rock. Scientists say that the resulting eruption will be bigger then ever felt before due to the pressure that the lava will be under. The resulting explosion WILL level Yellowstone and the surroundings in the initial eruption, however the fallout of ash should be the main killer with meteorologists predicting that the ash will cover most, if not all of the United States of America.

The National Guard are as of now, moving towards Yellowstone and its surroundings to assist with evacuation. They are saying that if you live in any of these areas to leave now and to call

BREAKING NEWS
The USGS National Geological Survey Department has just reported a major eruption from Yellowstone National Park. The National Weather Service has confirmed a large ash plume heading East-Northeast. The 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull resulted in a similar plume over Iceland, grounding flights over the North Atlantic for up to a week.

FEMA advises residents of the northern Great Plains to gather emergency supplies and seek shelter as soon as possible to await further instruction.

Geologists are unsure of the implications of this eruption, but initial estimates call for $80 billion dollars in damages and an estimated 200,000 Americans homeless.

In addition, this volcanic activity is expected to severely impact the crops of the already drought-ridden midwest, with up to 3 feet of ash blanketing the region. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is implementing contingency plans in order to salvage remaining crops in the United States, while NOAA remains unsure of how long the cloud of ash will disrupt agriculture.
